The original garage,, under the main living level in San Francisco, was unfinished. It collected clutter. We left plenty of room for the car and took the back half and for a family room and office. We added a bathroom and incorporated the laundry. The ceiling was left open, cleaned and painted to add texture, interest and keep the spatial height. The floor was leveled with sleepers and then laid with sustainable bamboo.
